🎨 The dCanvas project
We are incredibly excited to officially announce dCanvas — decentralized collaborative art at unprecedented scale.
dCanvas is a 1024 x 1024 community art pixel canvas, where each 4 x 4 block of pixels is a NFT. Ownership of the NFT grants multiple privileges:
- The owner has exclusive control to set the 16 pixel colors in that block.
- The owner gains access to the dCanvas DAO, which manages the production and royalty distribution of commissions, which are art pieces based on the whole canvas backed by limited edition minted NFTs and sold on art marketplaces.
- The owner truly possesses that block, so they are free to change pixel colors at anytime or re-auction it.
Each NFT in dCanvas is tangibly unique. As the owner, you are the only one who controls the pixel colors of that block. That means if someone else needs your space to complete their vision of the board, they need to collaborate or negotiate with you.

🕐 Project timeline
Currently our app is LIVE and we are in preview access mode. On the open access Preview board, anyone can draw without needing to own a NFT to try out the interface. We are already seeing some amazing artwork emerge!
At the start of April, we opened up 1024 NFTs for distribution to early adopters. We have been absolutely FLOORED by the support as all 1024 were distributed in under a week and our waitlist has just kept growing longer after that! Our first group of dCanvas NFT holders is already leaving their mark on the board. We may open up a second allotment to early adopters ahead of official launch so sign up for a mailing list and follow us on Twitter to be the first in line!
We plan for public launch at the start of May. Following official release, all NFTs will be dropped in open auctions at a minimum bid price of 0.2 ETH per NFT.
- Phase One — Frontier Acquisition. May 2021. After the official launch, the remaining NFTs will be auctioned on the marketplaces such as OpenSea with minimum open bid price of 0.2 ETH. To make bids, you can follow their directions on how to wrap your ETH and submit offers.
- Phase Two — Frontier Expansion. April-May, 2021. Once all auctions have concluded and tokens are distributed, there will be a period for token owners to coordinate, play around, and experiment with the dCanvas Board. An independent decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) will be established for the purposes of governing the creation and sale of commissions, consisting of NFT owners.
- Phase Three — Frontier Initial Commission. Estimated May, 2021. Under the governance of the independent dCanvas DAO, the canvas boards may be commissioned into art pieces that will be sold on NFT marketplaces such as Nifty Gateway or SuperRare. For example, these may consist of a snapshot of the Permanence board at approximately the end of May or a timelapse of the Transience board up until that point. Profits may be distributed as determined by the DAO as royalty.
🏆 Our Team and Mission
We are a pair of two doctors in surgery and oncology, who are deeply driven by our core mission of broadening the scope of how blockchain platforms can be applied and increasing exposure of these possibilities to the rest of the world.
We realized that recently, the valuable features of NFTs such as scarcity, ownership, and decentralization were being diluted by the massive influx of projects with little added originality or utility. The idea for dCanvas has been in our mind for over four years, but we were inspired to build it now to show how NFTs can be used to create outside the box, in an interactive, community oriented project that is easy to understand for anyone.
We believe that dCanvas pushes the boundaries of blockchain in the same way as previous NFT projects like CryptoPunks or CryptoKitties did by combining interactive NFTs and collaborative art at a scale that has never been done before. Our purpose is to establish this legacy in blockchain history.
